Welcome to my macaron blog! I have recently taken on the challenge of making French macarons, the elegant and delicate little treats that are so notoriously hard to perfect. Unlike the more familiar coconut macaroon here in the United States, the French macaron is a cookie made of egg whites and almond flour. The Parisian macaron chain, Ladurée, popularized the macaron by sandwiching two cookies with a flavored filling to get what some people now associate with sheer bliss.

I wouldn't pay $2.70 just for a Laduree macaron (and wait in line omg), which is why I'm making them myself. They sure are pretty to look at and photograph!
